TAXES AND OUR CLIENTS

When selecting a CPA to handle your tax matters an understanding of their firm’s philosophy is crucial.  We hear a lot of talk in our industry using words like aggressive or conservative to describe how a firm will approach your tax positions with the Internal Revenue Service.  These adjectives are very limiting and do not describe the complex issues that are encountered in minimizing your tax burden.

At AZ Dental CPA our tax philosophy is based on:

  • Our deep understanding of the Dental Industry
  • Realizing that each client is unique and that their tax situation is impacted by their personal choices
  • Focus on a structural tax plan which over time is modified based on our client’s fact and circumstances and the Internal Revenue Code
  • Documentation of tax positions before filing tax returns

Our philosophy for our dental entrepreneurs is best described in this quote from Chief Justice Learned Hand of the 2nd US Court of Appeals (1939-1951).  His opinions were so highly regarded he was known as the 10th Judge of the US Supreme Court.  In the case of Gregory v. Helvering Judge Hand stated

“Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is

Not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury.  There is not even

a patriotic duty to increase one’s taxes.  Over and over again the courts have said  that there is nothing sinister in so arranging affairs as

to keep taxes as low as possible.

Everyone does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty

to pay more than the law demands”
